Nancy Meckler:
‘The Roxy was a garage in Gospel Oak which we rented for £5 a week. The timeout critic John Ashford then lived over it. Foco Novo, the play by Bernard Pomerance, was first performed there. We wanted to perform our work there and so advertised in Timeout and decided to call it the Roxy. We could not charge admission as it was not legally a theatre space.’ 2017
